The Art Gallery

We have been exploring what identity means...

Lining up to go to the bus!

This is the artwork that was chosen to inspire our girls to think about what was inside the cabinets and why they may have been placed inside them. We followed Mandy our teacher to the 'studio' to create our own artwork depicting what was special to or about us that we may want to keep safe.

We all loved the moving flower chandelier.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Gung Hei Fat Choy 恭喜发财

Happy Chinese New Year!

On Monday the girls had an amazing day celebrating Chinese New Year.  In the last two weeks we have been learning about and exploring the different cultural aspects that make up this celebration and the reasons and beliefs behind them.

Stephanie (Mum from 1FA) helped us make some bright and very sparkly drums to scare away the monster Niam.

Mrs Farr enjoyed encouraging all the paint splattering we did to decorate our beautiful snakes to welcome in the year of the snake.

We tried writing some Chinese symbols on our fans which we then dyed red to help frighten away Niam.

But possibly the best part of the day was the AMAZING lunch we had...
We ate spring rolls, won tons, dumplings fried rice and noodles and we even had a try using the chopsticks!

And then to round of a fantastic day we gobbled down pig ice creams because the girls were born in the year of the pig :)

Week 2 Thursday

Last week Mrs Mason (Science Teacher) planted some plants outside our corridor window. We noticed her watering them and looking under the leaves. We have been wondering what the plants may grow into and thought she may have been looking for holes in the leaves. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs Farr took photos of a monarch butterfly resting on the leaves. Today we went out with magnifying glasses and discovered some eggs and a tiny caterpillar. Here are some photos.

Term 1

Welcome to 1FR's blog!

The ice cream treat and photo were quite rushed at the end of the day. My apologies!
It has been great to work with such wonderful girls and it has been lovely to meet many of the parents as well. I will be sharing some of the work that we are doing on this blog so watch this space! We have been doing some statistics work in Maths. We drew a picture of our favourite ice cream and the most popular turned out to be Cookies and Cream ... a good excuse on a hot afternoon to eat an ice cream!
