Sports Carnival

Sports Carnival

We had a fantastic time on Friday at the Junior School Sports Carnival! The weather was almost too kind as the sun rays beat down on us. The races were hot work and everyone did such a great job running, skipping and picking up balls!  The girls enjoyed the varied tabloid activities under the shade of the trees. I was very proud of all the girls having a go and being the best they could be and showing wonderful sportsmanship. It was the first time we had the sports day on the field and I think it seemed more of an occasion and it was great to have lots of space. Here are some photos of the tabloid events.

Year 4 Market Day

Take this opportunity to encourage your daughters to help you with jobs around the house or garden this weekend to enable them to earn some pocket money. The Year 4 girls inquiry has been 'The Market Place'. They have been busy planning, making and advertising goods for their very own Market Place.  You can see what will be on sale by viewing the advertisements in 'The Messenger'. I will take them to the hall to make their purchases!

Dominoes

Dominoes

Dominoes have become a bit of a new craze in 1FR. Michelle, Sophie's mum introduced the girls to making a domino run. We watched some of the world records on Youtube and decided to have a go on Friday morning. We discovered it can be quite frustrating and a lot harder than it looks. I was very impressed with the team work and perseverance shown by the girls.

Happy Diwali

HAPPY DIWALI

Saal Mubarak!

Happy Diwali!
On Tuesday we celebrated Indian New Year or Diwali.  Diwali is the festival of lights and lasts for five days. We listened to Ishani and Sara from Year 2 share their knowledge of Diwali and we enjoyed watching Sara perform an Indian dance. We used coloured rice to decorate our pastel rangoli patterns, made barfi sweets and painted a diva. Last of all Karsimar's Mum and Grandma came to decorate our hands with mehandi designs.

Last Friday the girls went to see Harold and the lesson was about healthy eating. The girls have been discussing healthy eating options and made suggestions for a healthy picnic.
